SANS 2006 Training Update

From: The SANS Institute (sanssans.org)
Date: Mon Dec 12 2005 - 21:42:10 CST

Dear Security Express,

The New Year is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to
think about your training needs for 2006. The recent release of the
annual SANS Top 20 List of critical vulnerabilities amplifies the need
for SANS training! (http://www.sans.org/top20/)

"Critical vulnerabilities are widespread and many of them are being
exploited, right now, in our homes and in our offices," stated Alan
Paller, SANS Director of Research. "We're publishing this list as a red
flag for individuals as well as IT departments. Too many people are
unaware of these vulnerabilities or mistakenly believe their computers
are protected."

The very tools we rely on for protection - backup, recovery, and
antivirus programs - are being aggressively targeted by attackers. They
are also exploiting network devices such as routers and switches that
form the backbone of the Internet. Have you diligently prepared
yourself to properly defend and protect your organization's resources?

Given the dynamic nature of the evolving threat landscape and the
various vulnerabilities that attackers target, it is vital that security
professionals, CIOs and auditors continually update their understanding
of cyber threats as well as their technical skills. SANS live training
events put you in an hands-on classroom setting to learn how to audit
networks and systems, assess hacker tools and tactics, better leverage
network defense systems, detect and react to attacks and respond to
compromised systems.
