WhatWorks in Intrusion Prevention Systems: "How New York Currency Exchange
Secures Electronic Payments"
Tuesday, March 14 at 1:00 PM EST (1800 UTC/GMT)
Featuring: Brian Locke of NYCE and Alan Paller of SANS
https://www.sans.org/webcasts/show.php?webcastid=90698
Sponsored by NFR Security

The New York Currency Exchange, an electronic payment provider,
transferred ATM and Point of Sale traffic from a giant web of private
networks to the Internet where the financial transactions would be
subjected to substantial risk. That prompted electronic payment
provider NYCE to look for a way to secure its transactions from
attackers and eavesdroppers. The intrusion prevention system NYCE
selected has solved the problem in innovative and effective ways.

Brian Locke, Manager of Network Security and Planning at the New York
Currency Exchange. Alan Paller: Director of Research for the SANS Institute.

New Attacks On The Internet A Threat Update from Internet Storm Center
and the State of the Art of Penetration Testing: How can penetration
testing show you risks you didn't know existed?

Wednesday, March 15 at 1:00 PM EST (1900 UTC/GMT)
Featuring: Johannes Ullrich and Max Caceres
https://www.sans.org/webcasts/show.php?webcastid=90618
Sponsored by Core Security Technologies

Overview:
Part I: What's actually happening on the Internet? What new attack vectors
should you worry about? Answers from Johannes Ullrich.

Johannes is the Chief Research Officer for the SANS Institute and
director of the SANS Internet Storm Center (ISC). His work with the
ISC has been widely recognized. In 2004, Network World named him one
of the 50 most powerful people in the networking industry and just
last month Storm Center won the Editors Award from SC Magazine the
top security award at the RSA Conference.

Part II: State of the Art of Penetration Testing: How can penetration
testing show you risks you didnt know existed?

It is no longer good enough to simply identify potential problems
on your network and systems. Organizations must also know the real
risks and implications of vulnerabilities and regularly test the
effectiveness of their network defenses. Max Caceres will discuss
how penetration testing software can provide organizations with
the capability to test their overall IT security infrastructure and
polices to ensure that their security investments are actually working.

Maximiliano Caceres, a regular speaker at Black Hat events,
is director of IMPACT Product Management at Core Security
Technologies. He led the engineering team responsible for
delivering the first two releases of CORE IMPACT and served as
the project leader for the initial security audit of Microsofts
.NET platform. Prior to joining Core, Caceres worked for 4 years
on information security projects at the Argentine tax agency.
