Internet Storm Center Threat Update: What you need to know about 5 new
Microsoft Patches
Wednesday, April 12 at 1:00 PM EDT (1700 UTC/GMT)
Featuring: Johannes Ullrich and Caleb Sima
https://www.sans.org/webcasts/show.php?webcastid=90620
Sponsored by SPI Dynamics

This month Microsoft will release 4 Windows and 1 Office
update. Johannes Ullrich, Chief Research Officer for SANS, will discuss
these patches and the impact of each vulnerability. ISC expects one
of these patches will fix the "createTextRange" vulnerability which
is now being exploited in the wild. Malware installed by this exploit
will be discussed in more detail.

The SANS Internet Storm Center (ISC), winner of SC Magazine's 2005
Editor's Choice award, uses advanced data correlation and visualization
techniques to analyze data collected from thousands of sensors in
over sixty countries.

Johannes Ullrich: As Chief Research Officer for the SANS Institute,
Johannes is currently responsible for the SANS Internet Storm Center
(ISC) and the GIAC Gold program. He founded DShield.org in 2000,
which is now the data collection engine behind the ISC. His work with
the ISC has been widely recognized, and in 2004, Network World named
him one of the 50 most powerful people in the networking industry.
Johannes holds a Ph.D. in Physics from SUNY Albany and is located in
Jacksonville FL.

Caleb Sima is widely known within the Internet security community
for his expertise in penetration testing and his ability to identify
emerging security threats. He began his security career at the S1
Corporation in 1996. Caleb then joined Internet Security Systems
as a member of the X-Force, where he focused on the research and
development of security advisories for ISS. Some of his engineered
exploits have gained media attention in publications such as the New
York Times and the Washington Post. He has also been featured in US
News and World Report and Security World magazine.

Tool Talk: Go Hack Yourself! See how automated penetration testing with CORE
IMPACT can make your network more secure.
Thursday, April 13 at 1:00 PM EDT (1700 UTC/GMT)
Featuring: Alex Horan
https://www.sans.org/webcasts/show.php?webcastid=90648
Sponsored by Core Security

Please join Core Security Technologies for an in-depth technical
overview of CORE IMPACT, the first automated, comprehensive penetration
testing product. With CORE IMPACT, network administrators can
now safely and efficiently determine exactly how an attacker can
get control of their valuable information assets. You no longer
have to start from scratch and manually perform this critical type
of assessment. Join us to see how penetration testing tests the
security of your network, identifies what resources are exposed,
and determines if your current security investments are actually
detecting and preventing attacks.

Alexander Horan is a Product Specialist for Core Security Technologies,
providing training and customer support for CORE IMPACTS user base. Mr.
Horan has over eight years of experience working with both software
and hardware based security tools. He brings a deep knowledge and
understanding of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing,
systems administration, network administration, network audits,
operations, customer support, technical sales, project management,
network and systems design and IT management to his work at Core.
