CRITICAL:
Less critical

IMPACT:
DoS

WHERE:
From local network

SOFTWARE:
Desktop Orbiter 2.x

DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in Desktop Orbiter, which can be
exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) on a
vulnerable system.

Reportedly, every time a connection is made to the service on port
51054/tcp, a preview of the desktop is loaded into memory. This can
be exploited to consume all available memory by connecting multiple
times to the service.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.01. However, prior
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Restrict access to the service allowing only trusted IPs to establish
connections.
