TITLE:
Xmame Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

READ ONLINE:
http://www.secunia.com/advisories/8931/

CRITICAL:
Not critical

IMPACT:
Privilege escalation

WHERE:
Local system

SOFTWARE:
Xmame 0.x

DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been identified in Xmame, which allows malicious,
local users to gain group "games" privileges.

The problem is that the "lang" parameter isn't handled correctly.
This allows malicious users to overflow the buffer and execute
arbitrary code with group "games" privileges.

SOLUTION:
If you consider this a security issue, remove Xmame from your system
or remove the setgid bit. Games shouldn't be installed on production
systems.
