CRITICAL:

IMPACT:
System access

WHERE:
From remote

OPERATING SYSTEM:
Gentoo Linux 1.x

DESCRIPTION:
Gentoo has issued an update for mikmod. This fixes a vulnerability,
which potentially could be exploited by malicious people to
compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error. This can be
exploited to cause a buffer overflow by including a file with an
overly long, specially crafted filename inside an archive.

Successful exploitation requires that a user is tricked into reading
the malicious archive using mikmod.

SOLUTION:
Update Gentoo:

emerge sync
emerge mikmod
emerge clean
