CRITICAL:
Not critical

IMPACT:
Privilege escalation

WHERE:
Local system

SOFTWARE:
Xsok 1.x

DESCRIPTION:
c0wboy has reported a vulnerability in Xsok, which potentially can be
exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to boundary errors in the handling of
the "-xsokdir" command line argument. This can be exploited by
supplying an overly long string, which causes a buffer overflow.

Successful exploitation may grant higher privileges on systems where
Xsok has been installed sgid or suid.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.02. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Remove suid or sgid bits.
