TITLE:
FreeProxy Directory Traversal and Denial of Service Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA10588

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://www.secunia.com/advisories/10588/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
Exposure of system information, Exposure of sensitive information,
DoS

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
FreeProxy 3.x

DESCRIPTION:
badpack3t has discovered two vulnerabilities in FreeProxy, which can
be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive
information or cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerabilities are both present in the built-in web server
(FreeWeb) and are caused due to errors in the handling of HTTP
requests.

An input validation error can be exploited to conduct classic
directory traversal attacks and thereby escape the web root.

Example:
http://[victim]/../../../../boot.ini%00.html

A NULL pointer dereference bug can be exploited to crash the process
by sending a malformed HTTP GET request without the "/" character
when requesting a resource.

Example:
GET AAA HTTP/1.0

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 3.61. Other
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Disable the web service.
