http://secunia.com/advisories/11289/

CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
System access

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
eMule 0.x

DESCRIPTION:
Kostya Kortchinsky has reported a vulnerability in eMule, which can
be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the
"DecodeBase16()" function, which is used in the web server and IRC
client code for decoding hexadecimal strings. This can be exploited
to cause a buffer overflow by e.g. sending a specially crafted IRC
SendLink command to a vulnerable system.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code on the
system.

The vulnerability has been reported in version v0.42d. Prior versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 0.42e.
