DESCRIPTION:
Christer Oberg has reported a vulnerability in FreeBSD, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to gain knowledge of sensitive
information.

The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error in the
"CONS_SCRSHOT" ioctl and can be exploited to disclose parts of kernel
memory by supplying a specially crafted argument.

Successful exploitation requires access to the physical console or
that a "/dev/ttyv*" device node can be opened.

SOLUTION:
Update to a fixed version or apply patches.

The vulnerability has been fixed in the following versions:
* 2004-09-30 17:49:15 UTC (RELENG_5, 5.3-BETA6)
* 2004-10-04 17:04:25 UTC (RELENG_5_2, 5.2.1-RELEASE-p11)
