TITLE:
DB2 Universal Database Multiple Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA12733

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/12733/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
Unknown, Security Bypass, DoS, System access

WHERE:
From local network

SOFTWARE:
DB2 Universal Database 7.x
http://secunia.com/product/858/
DB2 Universal Database 8.x
http://secunia.com/product/857/

DESCRIPTION:
Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in DB2 Universal
Database, where some of the vulnerabilities can be exploited to
compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Improper permissions for the "everyone" group on Windows systems
makes it possible to access certain DB2 resources, which should not
be possible.

2) An input validation error within the DB2 security service can be
exploited to crash it by sending specially crafted data.

3) An access control error makes it possible for users to signal the
DB2 UDB instance to shut down.

4) Unspecified boundary errors exist, which can be exploited to cause
buffer overflows and may allow execution of arbitrary code.

5) A boundary error within the handling of library names can be
exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by passing an overly
long library name.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

6) An unspecified vulnerability exists within the satellite
user-defined function SATADMIN.SATENCRYPT.

7) An unspecified vulnerability exists within the JDBC listener.

8) An unspecified vulnerability exists within the conversion of DTS
to strings.

9) A boundary error within the handling of the "DB2LPORT" environment
variable can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by setting it to
an overly long value.

10) A boundary error within the DB2FMP process can be exploited to
cause a buffer overflow by passing an overly long command string.

11) Boundary errors within some XML extender UDFS can be exploited to
cause stack-based buffer overflows by passing overly long parameters.

SOLUTION:
Apply DB2 FixPak 6a or 7a.

Fixes for DB2 7.2 will be included in FixPak 13, which will be
released early October.
