CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
System access

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
IDA Pro 4.x
http://secunia.com/product/4559/

DESCRIPTION:
Lord Yup has reported a vulnerability in IDA Pro, which potentially
can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the
parsing of the PE (Portable Executable) import directory. This can be
exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially
crafted PE file containing overly long import library names.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code when a
malicious PE file is opened.

The vulnerability has been reported in versions 4.6 Service Pack 1
and 4.7 on Windows and Linux. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
The vendor has issued a temporary fix:
http://www.datarescue.be/freefiles/ida47vfix.zip

The fix will reportedly be included in the next release of IDA Pro.
