From: Secunia Security Advisories (sec-advsecunia.com)
Date: Tue Nov 29 2005 - 04:17:15 CST

TITLE:
GuppY PHP Code Injection and Local File Inclusion Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA17790

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/17790/

CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
Exposure of sensitive information, System access

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
GuppY 4.x
http://secunia.com/product/5665/

DESCRIPTION:
rgod has reported some vulnerabilities in GuppY, which can be
exploited by malicious people to disclose sensitive information and
compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to the "_SERVER[REMOTE_ADDR]" parameter in
"error.php" isn't properly sanitised before being stored in a PHP
script. This can be exploited to inject and execute arbitrary PHP
code.

Successful exploitation requires that "register_globals" and
"magic_quotes_gpc" are disabled.

2) Input passed to the "meskin" parameter in "editorTypetool.php" and
the "lng" parameter in "archbatch.php" and "nwlmail.php" isn't
properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be
exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources.

Successful exploitation requires that "register_globals" is enabled
and that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 4.5.9 and prior.
Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and
verified.
