From: Secunia Security Advisories (sec-advsecunia.com)

TITLE:
Mini-NUKE SQL Injection and Unauthenticated Password Change

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA18439

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/18439/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
Security Bypass, Manipulation of data

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
Mini-NUKE 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/6811/

DESCRIPTION:
Mustafa Can Bjorn has reported a vulnerability and a security issue
in Mini-NUKE, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass
certain security restrictions and conduct SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "hid" parameter in "news.asp" isn't properly
sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to
manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Example:
http://[victim]/news.asp?Action=Print&hid=[code]

2) The problem is that it is possible to change the password for
arbitrary users via the "membership.asp" script without being
authenticated.

Example:
http://[victim]/membership.asp?action=lostpassnew

The vulnerability and the security issue have been reported in
version 1.8.2 and prior. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and
that users cannot alter other users' passwords.
