TITLE:
aWebNews Multiple Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA19487
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/19487/
CRITICAL:
Moderately critical
IMPACT:
Cross Site Scripting, Manipulation of data
WHERE:
From remote
SOFTWARE:
aWebNews 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/9116/
DESCRIPTION:
Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu has discovered some vulnerabilities in aWebNews,
which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion
and SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the "yname", "emailadd", "subject", and "comment"
parameters in visview.php is not properly sanitised before being
used. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code
in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when
malicious comments are viewed.
2) Input passed to the "user123" parameter in login.php and
fpass.php, and to the "cid" parameter in visview.php is not properly
sanitised before being used in SQL queries. This can be exploited to
manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is
disabled.
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.0. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
