TITLE:
Geeklog "connector.php" File Upload Vulnerability

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA20886

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/20886/

CRITICAL:
Highly critical

IMPACT:
System access

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
Geeklog 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/963/

DESCRIPTION:
rgod has discovered a vulnerability in Geeklog, which can be
exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The problem is that it is possible to upload files with multiple file
extensions to a location inside the web root via the
fckeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/connector.php
script. This can e.g. be exploited to execute arbitrary PHP code by
uploading a malicious PHP script to the "images/library/File"
directory.

Example:
[file].php.zip

Successful exploitation requires an Apache server with the "mod_mime"
module installed.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.4.0sr3. Other
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Restrict web access to the
"fckeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/connector.php"
script (e.g. with a .htaccess file). This may affect functionality.
