SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:

VERIFY ADVISORY:

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical
IMPACT:
Security Bypass, Manipulation of data
WHERE:
From remote
SOFTWARE:
BLOG:CMS 4.x
http://secunia.com/product/6051/
DESCRIPTION:
Ellipsis Security has discovered a vulnerability and a security issue
in BLOG:CMS, which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass
certain security restrictions and to conduct SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed via the URL query parameter in index.php is not
properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be
exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is
disabled.
2) The problem is caused due to improper restrictions to
photo/thumb.php. This can be exploited to store arbitrary thumbnails
created from local or external images via the "image" parameter.
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 4.1.0. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to photo/thumb.php (e.g. with a .htaccess file).
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
