TITLE:
3CTftpSvc TFTP Server Long Mode Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA23113
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/23113/
CRITICAL:
Moderately critical
IMPACT:
System access
WHERE:
From local network
SOFTWARE:
3CTftpSvc 2.x
http://secunia.com/product/12758/
DESCRIPTION:
Liu Qixu has discovered a vulnerability in 3CTftpSvc, which can be
exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error during the
processing of TFTP Read/Write request packet types. This can be
exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow by sending a
specially crafted packet with an overly long mode field (more than
460 bytes).
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.0.1. Other versions may
also be vulnerable.
SOLUTION:
Use in a trusted network environment only.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Liu Qixu, NCNIPC
