Moderately critical

Enterasys NetSight Inventory Manager 2.x

DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in various NetSight products,
which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of
Service) or compromise a vulnerable system.

1) A boundary error in the TFTPD component when processing filenames
in request packets can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer
overflow via a specially crafted request packet containing an overly
long filename.

2) An error in the BOOTPD component during the handling of the
"packet type" field of received packets can be exploited to crash the
service.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 2.1. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Apply Security Patch 1 or update to a fixed version.

Security Patch 1:
http://www.enterasys.com/pub/NetSight/Patches/SP1/NetSightSP1.zip

Update to NetSight Console 2.3.1 build 6 or later and NetSight
Inventory Manager 2.2.2 build 4 or later.
