DESCRIPTION:
rgod has discovered a weakness in ImageShack Toolbar, which can be
exploited by malicious people to potentially disclose sensitive
information.
The weakness is caused due to the ImageShackToolbar.FileUploader.1
ActiveX control (ImageShackToolbar.dll) including the insecure
"BuildSlideShow()" method. This can be exploited to upload a specific
image on a user's system to the ImageShack site or disclose contents
of non-image files by using e.g. a network sniffer on a local
network.
Successful exploitation requires knowledge of the full path and
filename of the target file.
The weakness is confirmed in ImageShackToolbar.dll version 4.5.7.69.
Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
