TITLE:
MailEnable IMAP Service Multiple Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA29277

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/29277/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
DoS, System access

WHERE:
From remote

SOFTWARE:
MailEnable Enterprise Edition 3.x
http://secunia.com/product/17903/
MailEnable Professional 3.x
http://secunia.com/product/17904/

DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has discovered some vulnerabilities in MailEnable,
which can be exploited by malicious people and malicious users to
cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or by malicious users to compromise a
vulnerable system.

1) Boundary errors in the IMAP service (MEIMAPS.EXE) when handling
arguments passed to the FETCH, EXAMINE, and UNSUBSCRIBE commands can
be exploited to cause buffer overflows via overly long arguments.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.

2) Errors in the IMAP service when handling the SEARCH and APPEND
commands can be exploited to cause the service to crash.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in MailEnable Professional version
3.13. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Restrict network access to the IMAP service.
