TITLE:
PunBB Cross-Site Scripting and SQL Injection Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA33059
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/33059/
CRITICAL:
Not critical
IMPACT:
Cross Site Scripting, Manipulation of data
WHERE:
From remote
SOFTWARE:
PunBB 1.x
http://secunia.com/advisories/product/3700/
DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in PunBB, which can be
exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL
injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the "req_passwort" parameter in login.php is not
properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be
exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation requires that the victim confirms the
cross-site request forgery warning dialog.
2) Input passed to the "order_by" and "direction" parameters in
admin/users.php and certain unspecified configuration values in
admin/settings.php is not properly sanitised before being used in SQL
queries. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting
arbitrary SQL code.
Successful exploitation requires that an administrator is tricked
into visiting a malicious site and confirming the cross-site request
forgery warning dialog.
The vulnerabilities are reported in version 1.3.x prior to 1.3.2.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.3.2 or apply hotfixes.
