TITLE:
ksquirrel-libs Radiance RGBE Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA33469

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/33469/

DESCRIPTION:
Secunia Research has discovered some vulnerabilities in
ksquirrel-libs, which can be exploited by malicious people to
compromise an application using the library.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors within the
"mt_codec::getHdrHead()" function in kernel/kls_hdr/fmt_codec_hdr.cpp
and can be exploited to cause stack-based buffer overflows by e.g.
tricking a user into opening a specially crafted Radiance RGBE
(*.hdr) file.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 0.8.0. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Do not open untrusted Radiance RGBE images in an application using
ksquirrel-libs.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Stefan Cornelius, Secunia Research.
