TITLE:
D-Link MPEG4 Viewer ActiveX Control Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA35066

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/35066/

DESCRIPTION:
0x29A has discovered two vulnerabilities in D-Link MPEG4 Viewer
ActiveX Control (csviewer.ocx), which can be exploited by malicious
people to potentially compromise a user's system.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to boundary errors when handling
the "SetFilePath()" and "SetClientCookie()" methods and can be
exploited to cause heap-based buffer overflows via an overly long
string as argument.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.11.918.2006. Other
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
