TITLE:
wxWidgets Double Free and Integer Overflow Vulnerabilities
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA35292
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/35292/
DESCRIPTION:
Tielei Wang has discovered some vulnerabilities in wxWidgets, which
can be exploited by malicious people to potentially compromise a
user's system.
1) A double free error within the "wxPNGHandler::LoadFile()" function
in common/imagpng.cpp can be exploited to potentially execute
arbitrary code via a specially crafted PNG file.
2) An integer overflow error exists within the
"wxTIFFHandler::LoadFile()" function in common/imagtiff.cpp. This can
be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow and potentially
execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted TIFF file.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.8.10. Other versions
may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Vulnerability #1 is fixed in the SVN repository.
http://trac.wxwidgets.org/changeset/60875
Do not process untrusted PNG or TIFF files.
