TITLE:
IrfanView 1BPP Image Resampling Integer Overflow Vulnerability

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA35359

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/35359/

DESCRIPTION:
Tielei Wang has discovered a vulnerability in IrfanView, which can be
exploited by malicious people to potentially compromise a user's
system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow when
resampling certain 1 BPP images. This can be exploited to cause a
heap-based buffer overflow by e.g. tricking a user into opening a
specially crafted TIFF file.

Successful exploitation requires that a resampling or screen fitting
option is used.

The vulnerability is confirmed in version 4.23. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 4.25.
