TITLE:
Stanford WebAuth Password Disclosure Security Issue
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA36640
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/36640/
DESCRIPTION:
A security issue has been reported in Stanford WebAuth, which can be
exploited by malicious people to potentially disclose sensitive
information.
The security issue is caused due to the application converting
requests containing a user's password from a POST to a GET form under
certain conditions. This can be exploited to potentially disclose the
user's password via web server logs or via the user's browser history
when e.g. an initially successful cookie test fails at login.
NOTE: The URL containing the password may also be forwarded as the
referrer to a target web site and disclosed via server logs, if the
WebLogin confirmation page is enabled.
The security issue is reported in versions 3.5.5, 3.6.0, and 3.6.1.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 3.6.2.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Reported by the vendor.
