DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has discovered some vulnerabilities in Microsoft
DirectX, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service).

The vulnerabilities are caused due to errors when processing certain
packets and can be exploited to e.g. interrupt existing sessions,
stop an application from responding, or crash an application by
sending specially crafted packets.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in DirectX 9.0c dpnet.dll version
5.03.2600.5512 on a fully patched Windows XP SP3 and version
5.03.3790.3959 on a fully patched Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise
Edition SP2. Other versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Host and play games using DirectPlay in trusted network environments
only.
