DESCRIPTION:
A security issue has been reported in FreeBSD, which can be exploited
by malicious users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially
compromise a vulnerable system.

The security issue is caused due to the NFS server not properly
verifying the file system entity type when processing READDIR
requests in the "nfsrvd_readdir()" function
(sys/fs/nfsserver/nfs_nfsdport.c) and can be exploited to force the
underlying file system to e.g. process a regular file as a directory
and subsequently cause a DoS condition or potentially execute
arbitrary code with kernel privileges.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code, but
requires the NFS server to use e.g. an UFS filesystem on a
little-endian server or a ZFS filesystem.

The security issue is reported in version 9.1.

SOLUTION:
Update FreeBSD or apply the patch.
