Perhaps I did misunderstand. SANS addresses Intrusion Analysis and does not
focus on any one product. A level of expertise and granularity is involved
that I don't think would be involved in any commercial product
    certification.

I guess what I mean is this; SANS will look at the bits on the wire and
their signatures, my impression of individual product certs is that they
teach you how to use a GUI. Admittedly, I could be mistaken.

    Brent,

I think you are answering a different question. Duke inquired about IDS
certification (i.e. ICSA Firewall Certification program) for vendors.
    As of
this moment, I think there are talks about ICSA will be conducting the
    IDS
certification process. I don't know if any vendors have ponied up the
    dough
to ICSA in order to start the certification process for their particular
product. Since the products change drastically from release to release,
    it
is going to be almost impossible for ICSA to certify an IDS application.
    In
the last quarter alone, ISS issued almost 4 updates to the Real Secure
    5.0
    version

In my opinion, SANS offers the best training available for network
security, in all areas. The firewall cert and intrusion cert are bth
extremely challenging and "worth it" - trust me. Look them up at
http://www.sans.org . Specifically, look at the requirements for
    practicals,
    located at http://www.sans.org/capsans/assignment.htm . cya!

Is there any certifications for IDS products like ICSA certification for
    Firewalls

    Thanks
