Hello,

if you have non cisco catalyst devices, you have
big problems in creating (multi port) SPAN-like
monitoring.

You can use taps (esp. from shomiti or NetOptics).
But these taps support only the monitoring of one port.
Yes, shomiti has the Century with 12 tap ports
but only one analyse port. NetOptics has an 6-Port tap
with also 6 analyse ports but only for SX/LX.

Further you can use an additional Catalyst for
creating "in-line" taps. But, if this catalyst
failed, the servers are all down. No network
administrator will use such additional Catalyst.

You know another technical way for solving this
problem or exist another product like from Shomiti or
NetOptics with support for multi port taps for
100BaseTX AND multiple analyse ports ?
