Netranger has been rebadged as Cisco Secure IDS, IMHO a very poor marketing
move.
The support page is at
http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/PSP/psp_view.pl?p=Software:Cisco_Secur
e_IDS
It's not reknowned for it's updates, according to their site the latest
version is 2.2.1, when looking for upgrades, you get the message there are
no upgrades at this time. Netranger was a well respected product, however,
perhaps like ISS between '99 and Q1 in 2001, they have become a little
complacent, sitting back on their laurels, expecting to win deals on their
name and market share.
Hopefully someone will set me right pointing out that Cisco are still
developing thier IDS product with regular updates.
I'll give ISS their due, they do seem to be working hard at updating their
products moving away from their McIDS image.
If you are still having problems I'd make the resellers earn their
commission and support the products they sold you. I looked at NetRanger
sorry, Cisco Secure IDS last year but at £18,000 per appliance I didn't go
beyond looking.
Good Luck in your quest
Andy
