The Ixia product requires their custom hardware chassis. You can sometimes
get one for evaluation if you're a potential major customer. If you're not
a large customer, you're talking MAJOR $$$ for the IXIA solution. The list
price for a full function dual gig-ethernet card is $15,000 (no decimal
points in that number). They have a "stripped down" version of the card
suitable for merely blasting packets in the $10,000 range. One point in
their favor, they work! and I mean really do work, full rate line speed
with tricks and treats.
