    There are at least three companies pursuing exactly this model. One is
    still in stealth mode as far as I can tell, so I won't blow their
    cover. Another is Sourcefire, Marty Roesch's company, and

    The other is my company Silicon Defense. We're working with Sun to ship
    a Solaris based appliance with Snort and the Nessus daemon prepackaged
    and with the OS configured appropriately to an IDS sensor.
