may be: How about putting the checksum file on a floppy and write-protect it?
Needs physical access to the computer (umount, eject the floppy, change the
switch, reinsert floppy, mount) to alter the file. Should be impossible for a
remote intruder.

Or, as i hoped to get any useful answer, but did not get yet: Installing the
whole system on at least two physical HDs and putting one of them _physically_
to read-only. Unfortunately i donīt know how to do that.
