I am using AVP with Qmail (+ Scan4virus) on a redhat 6.2
(All links can be found from www.qmail.org)

I am very happy with its daemon mode and never had problem with it
The virus db is analysed only once a day this reduce the server load,
it is nice mainly when you know that scan4virus is a prel program ...
AVP was the best Price/Quality product we found.
The deamon is restarted every night when I upload the virus db
so I am perhaps not the best person to speak of its stability ;*)
