Try http://www.sans.org
They are an online security training institute. As far as I know, this site
has a training course (online) on security and I guess it is worldwide known
to the IT community.
If you get other links let me know.

Hi list People
Can anyone direct me to a course online that would offer a certification in
LAN/WAN Security. I am desperately trying to get into the security field and
think this would cut a few barriers for me.
I was bit by the security bug when out in Botswana on contract. I was on
the 168.167.x.x network and could not work out why I kept getting strange
events in logs and new user accounts on my Unix box. I had never had given
it that much though before, Hacks were thing that happened to other people.
I asked the head of Telecom there if he had the same problem on his part of
the segment and he told me he was getting hacked in one form or another
everyday. He also said that he did not have the resources or knowledge to
secure the network properly. Botswana had only 1500 people on the net then
so there was not a great amount of money or knowledge to throw at the
problem.
I did some snooping around on Efnet and soon found a few Hackers or, so
they said and was give a link to a website and a set of tutorial called
Mostly Harmless Hacking (MHH). Well it uses as it's subject/victim Botswana,
although they are quite light weight they are a nightmare because they give
a lot of info on the network up front, making it that much easier for
newbies. I did after a lot of reading put a stop to most of it on the
network I was on, that's not to say what I did was in any way perfect.
That was about a year ago and I have read everything I can get my hand on
since then, But have had no luck in finding a job in the security industry
here in Australia. I am mostly self trained on NT, *unix having come from
the CAD/CAM side of network. So as I said I think a course would be an
advantage. I call MS there suggestion was to do a (AUS$9000) MCSE. But I was
hoping there was a more security dedicated course.
If anyone had a link for me I would be most grateful. I have included my
email address to keep the list mail to a min.
