    We do it here and it works just fine, all depends on the number of hits, SQL
    server hardware etc., etc. "contraindicated" or not

    I'd be careful about logging to SQL Server. In IIS 4.0, it was specifically
    contraindicated. Oracle or another large database tool is better.

    IIS can log to a SQL (MS SQL that is) server... You could use that and
    query it for specific entries.

    I have not done this myself (yet), but I plan on having our Internet and
    intranet servers log to our SQL 2000 server here shortly.
