i can confirm the IRE/Netscreen remote client works great on Windows 2000
for. We've been using it since last July's release date. perhaps you're
referring to the Cisco distribution. I haven't tested that release.

As i motioned earlier and on the VPN list, the NT 4.0/DHCP issue remains
outstanding. Even after a reboot the client is unable to obtain an address.

The client is good but does not work with W2K. We have rassled with IRE for
6 months, and they finally admitted it does not work a month ago. Also it
does not allow you to set variable policies for split horizon.

The client also contains a bug that will prohibit NT4.0 laptops from
obtaining an ip address when shim is installed. ire has been VERY slow to
    address this issue.

I would suggest you look at www.ire.com I understand that these are the guys
who wrote the IPSEC client that Cisco distribute as their Secure VPN Client.

Works quite well, does certificate based authentication, and pre-shared
keys. I have used to both Cisco Routers and PIX firewalls very
    successfully.
