Hi Wolfgang,

do the following:

- backup your system
- replace the SCHANNEL.DLL by an earlier version
  (try the file from your windows nt server installation cd-rom)
- restart your system
- install SP6a again
- don´t forget the hotfixes! (http://www.microsoft.com/security/)

Betreff: Windows NT High Encryption

I run a Windows NT Server Enterprise Edition (German Language) box with SP6a
(Standard Edition afaik 56bit).
As soon as i install Office 2000 the box is changed to High Encryption
(128bit). Thats the first thing that puzzles me - due to the fact that i
can not remember any options during Setup concerning this topic.
Buit the real problem is the following. After adding WINS and DNS Services
it is recommend to reinstall the ServicePack. But that simply can not be
done !
ServicePack Setup terminates with an error like this : "This Machine is
installed for High Encryption. Please install the right ServicePack"
When i try to install a High Encryption ServicePack i encounter following
message : "This Machine is installed in a wrong language"
But afaik there is no HighEncryption ServicePack available for German
Windows NT Server!
So can someone give me some hints how to get rid of the HighEncryption or
point me to some aid ??
