The reason why I mentioned firedeamon is mainly because I use it myself and
it's also recommended by G6 (now know as BulletProof FTP Server) for this
purpose.

I'm running it on 3 servers and no problems has occured (yet), but i can't
say anything about other applications since i've not tested (yet).

Very true, and the NT ResKit Util "SrvAny.exe" does the same thing.... altho
in my experience some programs just don't like to run as a service! :)

This is a truth with modification, you can always use a 3rd part program
like Firedeamon (http://www.firedeamon.com) to start the program at bootup
time.

This program will offer you the ability to add own services and decide how
they should be started.
