You can download this img file and use raw right to make a boot disk. Once
you have the disk just boot up to it and it will enable you to change the
password. I have used it on nt 4.0 and 2000 machines and it works. The new
version gives you the option to turn off syskey, but I do not recommend
doing that. It uses a Linux kernel once it boots up it will ask for the
location of the sam and it is usually on /dev/hda1 once it finds it the
program asks for which user account and then you can input whatever password
you like. It has saved me many times.

Subject: lost NT password
Hiya
This has probably been discussed before, but I please need an urgent answer.
One of our finance servers local NT password was changed and now we cannot
find it. It also does not permit interactive local logon. Is there any
other way I can get into this machine?
NT 4.0 SP 6a
Thanks
