            Thank you to those who responded with ideas. I found out what
    happened. Apparently the "Repair Installation" option wasn't checking
    a few files that were the wrong version. I had to basically run
    through the cabs and manually check file versions, file by file. I
    found the culprit and after changing it over, and running a repair
    installation yet again, everything has returned to normal. I don't
    know why IE didn't install certain files when I updated versions, but
    hopefully this is a user issue and not their installer. Has anyone
    else had problems upgrading with the same issues?
