Services. A lot of the services Windows provides in its default
configuration don't need to be accessible from outside the computer. A
friend of mine wrote a small tool to ease the process of disabling/
reconfiguring those services [1] (sorry, momentarily the page is just in
german, an english version will probably be up in a few days). The tool
can be used to configure a computer for one of the following two
scenarios:
- standalone computers with dialup-/cable-/whatever-Internet-connection
- computers in a local (Windows-)network, that need file- and printer-
sharing
