Along with the others on this list, I agree this is a great idea. I'd
like to add my voice to the suggestions of information on alternative
browsers, e-mail clients, spyware detectors, anti-virus software,
privacy primer, and password composition "rules".
My addition is a caution. With many computer-guys (me) whenever family
or friends ask about the virus-du-jour or about spyware, we end up
giving them a two page dissertation. When I've tried to develop a site
like you are suggesting, it quickly became "too busy" with topics and
subtopics.
I guess my suggestion is to make an uncluttered front page with the
basics *in language that your parents or grandparents could understand*
(or more accurately, MY parents) with deeper content contained on other
pages.
