Windows Update Services will be son of SUS. The major benefits that I
see are as follows:
- It has reporting mechanisms that SUS lacks so that you can tell who
received what update and when it was installed.
- You will also be able to establish groups for updates such as servers,
workstations, or departments - as defined by the user.
- Storage of update information in a database (MSSQL)
- Ability to cascade update servers
Cons:
- It still lacks the ability to build your own packages and install
software that is non-Microsoft. Look to something like Ecora or
Patchlink for that ability.
- Runs on top of IIS

Subject: Windows Update Services
Hi,
I'm currently using SUS, but I would like to get some information about
Windows Update Services. I know it's still in the beta version, but are
there
any pros/cons on this software?
Any input or experience regarding it will be appreciated.
