James,
I recommend you to take a look on Tivoli Access Manager (former Tivoli
Policy Director). I have a deep experience
with this product and I can assure you that you won't be disapointed.
It provides authentication, directory services integration,
support for smartcards and certificates, strong authentication methods
and even web single sign-on.
Regards,
Alberto.

Subject: Access Management Products

Hi,
I'm currently looking at various 'off-the-shelf' products to provide
access/session management for a web application that is being
developed.
For various reasons HTTP authentication is going to present usability
issues, and my feeling is that a 'home-cooked' solution will not be
robust
enough.
I was just wondering if anyone on the list could share any experiences
they've had with such products? I've been looking at SiteMinder,
ClearTrust, GetAccess and Oblix... trying to fight through the
marketing
blurb!
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
James.
