    if you don't use smbclient you could use a phoney smbclient shell or perl
    script to send out email instead of netbiui popups.

    I have some experimental patches to spo_alert_smb that changes its
    function (those popups interfeer with daily work)

    I tried to create a standalone spo_alert_smtp but could not get it to
    work.
