Is it plugged in to a switch or a hub. If switch are you forwarding traffic
to the port of your snort interface.

I did

ifconfig fxp1 up

now when i do

tcpdump -i fxp1
it says: tcpdump : WARNING: fxp1 : no IPv4address assigned

and finally:
0 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel

Actually there is a lot of traffic on the network which i see from another
m/c.

Do you see any obvious prob ?
