    Read the archives, this was discussed under the *exact* same subject on
    this list 3 days ago (1/27/03).

    In short, yes, several companies make AV tools for Linux, including frisk
    softwares f-prot, Sophos and McAfee, however most Linux "viruses" are
    actually server-penetrating worms (ie: Li0n) and there's not all that many
    of them.

    Most deployments of AV tools on Linux servers are primarily to check files
    before passing them on to windows machines and aren't often used just to
    scan the Linux server itself.

    Securing your systems against intrusion by hackers will inherently stop
    worms from infecting your Linux servers, and IMO should be your first and
    foremost priority before spending time and money on an AV product, although
    an AV can be of some use.
